Last couple weeks were hard. It’s been all about packing, and making final arrangements for the trip. Sandra had it even harder. She was busy studying for her Oregon Pharmacy Board exam and she passed!! :)
We had a party on Labor Day Sunday at my place which I was looking forward to because it gave us a little break from all the craziness happening in our lives. The highlight, our Trump pinata, got some serious beating. Even the dog had a bite. Everyone seemed to be full and content and enjoyed a beautiful, rare summer sunny day in the City. Finished the night inside with korean bulgogi and some more IPA and wine.

Next day we were back to reality. All energy went to our move. A week before our planned move we decided to change our moving company, since PackRats was so incompetent setting up our SF street parking permits that we had enough and cancelled our agreement last minute. Luckily, we found a reliable company on weeks notice to smooth out the details of our move. Needless to say we were stressed out. We secured boxes, thanks to Brian from my work and Sandra’s roomate, David. Last week was basically all about packing.
Sandra boxed up 4+ years of her SF life; I packed up 9 years. I ended up with 90 boxes just myself. I guess that’s 10 boxes for each year in the City.
Last Saturday was the moving day. I was pretty nervous but everything went smooth and by the early afternoon we had empty rooms and full cars. I’m not going to lie, I am really going to miss my place in San Francisco. I finally had a great roomate, Carlo (currently flying in clouds - fueled by love) and I’ll miss the garden in my backyard overlooking the San Francisco skyline. I’m happy to be moving on though and he’s for sure enjoying the empty house without the recycling nazi (me) around. =)
Last two days we spent in El Cerrito with our friends. Most of the time we were buried downstairs trying to pick and pack 20kg/44lbs each for our three months of travel. We only came up for air to enjoy the dinners that our friends made for us. Palo, Ali, David, Sylvia and kids - thank you so much.
Our friend, Sylvia, took us to the start of our journey to the BART station and after an hour and a half we were at SFO ready to take off. To be honest, there were so many things happening in our lives in the past couple of weeks that I still don’t fully understand what we are doing.
Traveling the world for three months with my girl.
