Landmannalaugar is a region in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the Highlands of Iceland. It is at the edge of Laugahraun lava field, which was formed in an eruption around the year 1477.
It is known for its natural geothermal hot springs and surrounding colorful landscape which is credited to the contrast of black volcanic sediment against rhyolite rocks.

Sigoldufoss is a 10 meter high waterfall in the river Tungnaá. In 1981 a power station was built not far from the fall with a capacity of 210,000 kW and subsequently the flow of the water in the river Tungnaá can be low.
It is only possible to reach this area of Landmannalaugar for tourists from around June to late September and 4WD is a necessity.
A lake filled caldera.
Lake Hnausapollur is one of two crater lakes of the Veidivotn System south of River Tungnaa.
For scale that tiny blue dot in the left of the picture is Sandra.
Running can be dangerous, gotta mind those cracks in Earth. Highly recommend trekking poles as some of the paths were a bit sketch!
